Social Status & Nike Launch Fourth & Final Attack Collab

0

Social Status is Nike’s only collaborator not named Travis Scott that have put their own spin on the Mac Attack. However, while there’s only one Cactus Jack iteration, there are a total of four Social Status colorways. Over the past few months, the retailer from James Whitner’s The Whitaker Group has been rolling them out out one by one, with launch of the fourth and final colorway now officially announced.

Dubbed “Status Symbol,” this colorway of the Social Status x Nike Attack features a white premium cracked leather upper with 3M reflective mesh paneling on the toe box and side panels. Black nylon appears on the ankle collar and heel counter, with contrasting ivory nylon on the Swoosh. If torn off, the nylon panels reveal hidden hairy suede underneath: ivory suede under the black nylon and black suede under the white nylon. Like previous colorways, this one also features the Social Status x Nike special project logo on the tongues and the insoles feature a checklist of all existing and upcoming Social Status locations. Another neat detail across all four colorways is that they all come with a stash pocket hidden on the inside of the tongue.

If you’re not familiar with the Mac Attack, there’s a good reason. It hasn’t been on the market for almost forty years. This is the shoe that was made for tennis legend John McEnroe in 1984 and was subsequently locked away in the vault for decades. Nike finally brought the shoe back in 2023, though with a slightly different name: the Nike Attack.

The Social Status x Nike Attack comes with bodega-inspired packaging that includes a special shoe box, custom graphics on the paper liner, a Social Status x Nike nylon shopping bag, and extra shoelace kits that resemble boxed candy. This bodega theme connects to the accompanying “1st & 15th” video series directed by Loyd Visuals. The four episodes tell a coming-of-age story of a kid named Q and draws analogies to the universal economic cycle felt across people, communities, and social classes. Episode 4, “Knowledge Is Power,” premiered alongside the launch announcement of the “Status Symbol” Attack and features a performance by acclaimed actor J. Alphonse Nicholson in the role of a man named Power. The episode is soundtracked by Charlotte natives Lute and Reuben Vincent, who ground the story as it unfolds in the heart of the North and South Carolina environment that is instrumental to Social Status’ history and story.

You can check out Episode 4 below as well as on Social Status’ Youtube channel, where you can also find previous short films like “Free Lunch” created for the launch of the Social Status x Nike Dunk pack and the “Recess & Playground” film created for the Social Status x Nike Air Penny collabs.

The draw for the Social Status x Nike Attack “Status Symbol” is open now through March 4th and can be entered via Social Status and/or A Ma Maniére. The shoe will officially launch on March 8th in-store at all TWG retail locations (Social Status, A Ma Maniére, APB, and Prosper), online from Social Status (11am EST), and on SNKRS.
