Travis Scott x Nike Attack Drops This Month

0

Original Story (06/21/23): Originally dubbed the Mac Attack when released in 1984, the newly named Nike Attack is making a big comeback in 2023.

Created for tennis legend John McEnroe, the signature silhouette was placed in the vault for decades, recently brought back into the spotlight by the likes of Travis Scott and Lebron James, who were each spotted rocking vintage pairs in 2021. Nike officially announced the June release of the OG Attack with the help of Travis Scott and John McEnroe himself going head-to-head on the tennis court, featuring a short film and retro-inspired action shots.

With the OG Attack now back on the market, we can also expect a Cactus Jack version of the silhouette featuring the now-iconic backwards swoosh. We caught a sneak peek at this version during one of Travis Scott’s rare performances earlier this year in Miami. The retail version is expected to be similar to the OG, with a smoke grey suede upper with hits of black leather throughout, sitting atop a stark white midsole. The only noticeable differences are the reverse Swoosh on the lateral and the Cactus Jack branding on the heels.

The collaboration is a match made in heaven considering McEnroe’s fiery on-court reputation and La Flame’s energetic on-stage presence. Catch the Travis Scott x Nike Attack when they release this holiday season on SNKRS, the Travis Scott website, and select retailers. Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.

Also, you may have caught some of the guerrilla marketing for the “Cactus Macs” that went viral the past few days. Here’s a quick recap:

1) A “leaked” Zoom meeting between John McEnroe, Travis Scott, and Nike staff shows some tension between McEnroe and Scott.

2) McEnroe is stopped on the street and is asked about the leaked video. McEnroe doubles down on the “Cactus Mac” name.

3) Travis Scott defaces McEnroe’s plaque at Nike WHQ.

4) Travis Scott’s car is vandalized with the word “Jack” crossed out and a “Love, Mac” signoff.

Update (08/30/23): Just a day after the leak, we now have official images from Nike of the Travis Scott Mac Attack. Based on the new images, we can see that the Cactus Jack version will come in the same type of packaging as the OGs. Stay tuned for release info.
