New Balance Launches the Made in USA 990v6

0

It’s been over a year since Teddy Santis first shared a look at the 990v6. After much anticipation, the latest installment in the New Balance 990 series is finally here.

The OG New Balance 990 first hit shelves 40 years ago and was considered the single best running shoe on the market at the time. Since then, there have been a handful of updates to the design, with the latest being the most drastic yet.

The 990v6 features a more streamlined upper then previous generations. Dispensing the standard midfoot saddle, allows the synthetic and pigskin suede overlays to flow from heel to toe across the mesh upper. The greatest advancement, however, occurs underfoot, as New Balance introduces its FuelCell midsole cushioning for the first time ever to the 990 series.

New Balance’s launch announcement of the Made in USA 990v6 is accompanied by the debut of a reimagined version of the brand’s “Runners Aren’t Normal” campaign from 1982, which came out the same year as the original 990. Featuring a casting that embodies the spirit of the original campaign, including Action Bronson and New Balance athletes Sydney McLaughlin and Trayvon Bromell, it showcases the connection between the people who wear the shoe for both performance and style.

The New Balance 990v6 in its debut grey colorway will be available starting Friday, November 4th on NewBalance.com and at select retailers worldwide.
