Louis De Guzman Welcomes DISRUPTIE to the “Along The Way” Universe

Throughout 2023, Chicago-based artist Louis De Guzman has been forming his own fictional universe titled “Along The Way.” After dropping his “Explorers Club” collab with N.E.R.D, a well-received solo exhibition in Chicago, and a showcase at ComplexCon 2023, De Guzman is now welcoming a new character to the world, DISRUPTIE.

“DISRUPTIE is your visual conscience. Your imaginary guide within the Along The Way universe,” explains Louis De Guzman. “His intention is to form and mold himself towards your imagination and how you navigate yourself internally within your own personal journey. Throughout all obstacles in life, we sometimes need that little boost of innocence to remind ourselves where we’ve been and where we’re going. I’m beyond honored to present DISRUPTIE.”

DISRUPTIE is named after the signature shapes found throughout LDG’s “geometric abstraction” style artwork, dubbed “disruptors.” The character makes its official debut as an 8-inch vinyl figure, limited to an edition of 100, making this De Guzman’s most limited release to date. The figure showcases the blue character with a smirk on his face, throwing up a peace sign in one hand, and holding a handful of “disruptors” in the other.

This release marks Louis De Guzman’s first original, self-produced figure, though the artist has designed many vinyl figures over the years. The first was “Elevate,” an abstract version of Bart Simpson first launched in 2018. This was followed by the release of vinyl figures of Spongebob and Patrick in 2019, an official collaboration between Louis De Guzman, Spongebob Squarepants, and J Balvin. Other vinyl figures from LDG include the Bugs Bunny “A Wild Hare” in collaboration with Looney Tunes, the “Coneman” in collaboration with BBC ICECREAM, the “Atom vs. Astro” figure in collaboration with Astro Boy and BAIT, and a BABY MILO figure in collaboration with BAPE.

Louis De Guzman’s DISRUPTIE figure drops December 26th at 12pm CST on the Louis De Guzman website, priced at $275 USD. The vinyl figure will be released alongside an enamel keychain produced by Pintrill. Make sure to sign up for the LDG mailing list for early access.
