A$AP Rocky & PUMA Drop F1 Collection for Miami Grand Prix

We’ve seen what Rihanna has done with her FENTY x PUMA line, well now it’s her partner’s turn to drop his own PUMA collection.

After being named PUMA’s Formula 1 creative director last year, A$AP Rocky released his first PUMA products at the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix. However, this capsule was extremely limited was only available on site at the event. Flacko and PUMA have now ramped things up, dropping their first global collection together to coincide with the 2024 Miami Grand Prix.

Comprised of footwear, apparel, and accessories, motorsport-inspired offering features performance materials, functional elements, and distressed details that create the effect of having been worn working in the garage all day.

Inspired by racing suits, the collection’s sweatshirt and sweatpants are made with a slim fit and are covered in custom PUMA graphics. The Seatbelt Tee, offered in three colorways, features a sublimated graphic that mimics a driver’s 6-point seatbelt.

For accessories, Flacko and PUMA deliver a knit balaclava inspired by the balaclavas worn by F1 drivers under their helmets. A separate padded balaclava is made to look like a racer’s helmet, complete with removable visor insert. The collection also features driving gloves with heat map print on the palm and molded silicone on the back of the hand that mimics the look of veins.

Rounding out the collection is PUMA and Rocky’s first footwear collab, the Inhale OG. This model originally released in 2000 as a running shoe, though its exaggerated contours and curves fits rights in with today’s streetwear aesthetic. Rocky handpicked this silhouette from the PUMA archive, and together with PUMA has chosen to release it in its OG colorway.

Rocky took a hands-on approach to not only the designs of the collection, but also the marketing. Flacko oversaw the directing, styling, scoring, and producing of the accompanying visuals, infusing the AWGE aesthetic to the campaign. He even put on prosthetics to bring back the “Babushka Boi” music video vibes.

“This Miami collection aims to give fans the chance to have their own race suit from the helmet down to the shoes,” says A$AP Rocky. “Other sports have uniforms available for the consumer and I wanted to bring that to the F1 category. For the visuals, I wanted to demonstrate how as adults we can lose sight of the dreams and imagination that we had as kids, and really love how it all came together.”

The A$AP Rocky x PUMA F1 Miami collection drops May 3rd on the PUMA website (10am ET) and the CNCPTS Miami Flagship Store. Other global retailers carrying the collection include SSENSE, SLAM JAM, SNS, and Foot Patrol.
