ERL x Levi’s Pays Homage to California’s Surf & Skate Culture

Eli Russell Linnetz and his ERL label are teaming up with Levi’s on the release of a 10-piece collection that features retro aesthetics combined with California skate and surf culture.

Comprised entirely of light wash distressed denim pieces, the ERL x Levi’s collection is given a sun-faded look to pay homage to California, the home state of both brands. Though a light indigo finish is found throughout, the collection offers a wide range of versatility through it various silhouettes, ranging from a boxy, slightly cropped Sherpa Trucker to a relaxed, oversized Overshirt. ERL is also known for playfulness with his garments, best showcased on the oversized board shorts, which were actually cut from a pair of overalls, offering a new look that references Venice Beach skate culture.

Another stand-out piece is the Stay Loose Jean, equipped with unique distressing at the ankle with the hems hanging by the strands, which gives the garment a baggy look while also allowing the wearer to show off their footwear. Women’s pieces include a mini skirt, flared jeans, and a floor-length denim dress with a fully-distressed bottom hem.

“It was super exciting to work with the Levi’s team on the design process because authenticity is the most important thing to me,” says Eli Russell Linnetz. “I really enjoyed going through the Levi’s archives to fully understand the heritage of the brand and see how people throughout the years have customised and made it their own. Our Levi’s x ERL collection has a very grunge, casual, and skater energy. It’s easy to throw on for everyday wear but it’s still identifiable with a clear voice and signature.”

The ERL x Levi’s Collection will release on September 6th and will be available on the Levi’s website, Levi’s app, and at select Levi’s stores worldwide. Check out the campaign shots below.
