Rick Owens and Converse continue their partnership with the introduction of their newest silhouette, the DRKSHDW DBL DRKSTAR Chuck 70.
The avant-garde fashion designer, known for applying distorted proportions to his work, transforms the classic Chuck 70 and gives it a whole new look by giving it a double-stacked sole. The elongated tongue, seen on previous Rick Owens x Converse releases, also makes an appearance on the DBL DRKSTAR. Coming in black high-top and natural ivory low-top colorways, the shoes are constructed using a process called “Max Grind” which incorporates up to 40% of reclaimed rubber scraps from the manufacturing process back into the outsole.
The double-stacked sole is just the latest in Rick Owens’ manipulation of classic silhouette. His first Converse project, the TURBODRK Chuck 70, came equipped with a squared-off toe, giving the shoe a bold aesthetic. While many of the classic elements of the Chuck 70 remain intact, Owens distinct design language makes his collaborations easily distinguishable from the rest.
