BAPE is closing out its 30th anniversary year with a bang, reuniting with frequent collaborator Alpha Industries on a new collection that combines BAPE’s Harajuku streetwear style, Alpha Industries’ military aesthetic, and traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
The new BAPE x Alpha Industries collection for Winter 2023 is highlighted by a reversible kimono jacket adorned with Ukiyo-e inspired artwork using traditional Japanese sashiko technique. The kimono jacket is accompanied by Alpha Industries’ classic MA-1 jacket and BAPE’s iconic full-zip Shark hoodie. Rounding out the apparel offering are crewneck sweaters, 6-pocket pants, graphic tees, and military-style hats.
BAPE also applies the sashiko style to its Manhunt footwear silhouette, offered in the same navy and olive colorways as the apparel. Last but not least, the collection also features BE@RBRICKs in collaboration with Medicom Toy. The 100% and 400% versions feature an army green camo pattern design with a classic MA-1 jacket graphic design on the body, while the 1000% version is wearing an actual N3B flight jacket, one of Alpha Industries’ classic silhouettes.
