Colorful yet subtle. Eye-catching yet minimalistic. AURALEE has a way of playing with tones that evoke of a feeling of “calm elegance.” We’ve seen across the Tokyo-based label’s various New Balance collaborations over the last few seasons.
For Spring/Summer 2024, AURALEE is applying its sophisticated aesthetic to the New Balance WRPD Runner. First debuted at Paris Fashion Week last June, the AURALEE x New Balance WRPD Runner comes in two monochromatic colorway. One is dressed in dark navy across the upper’s nubuck, suede, and mesh paneling and the sculpted FuelCell midsole. The other comes in light beige with the ever-so-slightest tinge of green. Both feature a waxed treatment on the outsole for a vintage feel.
This project marks the first collaboration on the WRPD Runner, a model introduced in 2023 with warped and distorted proportions. The nontraditional lines across the uppers and the exaggerated shape of the soles are inspired by the sense of fluid motion, yet still rooted in New Balance’s familiar running designs.
