Korean designer Junghoon Son, professionally known as VANDYTHEPINK, has had a stellar 2023 so far. After dropping collaborations with the likes of McDonald’s and Clarks Originals, Vandy is now closing out the year with a new Doraemon edition of the VTP varsity jacket.
Doraemon made his debut in manga form in 1969 and has since been featured in various anime series and animated films. In an official collaboration with Doraemon’s creators, Fujiko Pro, VANDYTHEPINK pays homage to the cherished robot cat from the future with a staple VTP piece, the varsity jacket. Originally released at ComplexCon, this varsity jacket is constructed from blue wool and white leather. Flower logos run down the sleeves, a motif commonly found on other VTP varsity jackets (like this Won Soju collab). Doraemon himself appears on the backside, seen walking through his trusty Anywhere Door.
Doraemon has infiltrated the fashion scene in recent years, featured on apparel in collaborations with the likes of Gucci, Felt, BAIT, and Uniqlo. There was even a Nike SB Dunk High colorway that paid homage to the lovable character.
The VANDYTHEPINK x Doraemon Varsity Jacket drops December 15th on the VANDYTHEPINK website. Early Access: 11am EST, General Release: 12pm EST.
