In 2022, Saucony teamed up with designer Tommy Bogo and his TOMBOGO label to create the Butterfly, a silhouette comprised of an inner bootie and an outer foam shell that can be worn three different ways. This modular-style design quickly became a trend across the entire footwear industry. Around the same time as the Butterfly’s launch, adidas dropped its adiFOM Q silhouette and Jordan Brand dropped the System.23. However, the Butterfly was actually the first of the three to be unveiled, showcased at TOMBOGO’s Fall/Winter 2022 show all the way back in February 2022.
TOMBOGO and Saucony are now bringing the Butterfly back in two new tonal colorways: “Boulder Brown” and “Morpho Black.” The Butterfly features Saucony’s PWRRUN performance cushioning, giving the wearer the ability to run comfortably in them if they choose to. The socklike inner bootie can be worn by itself, ideally when hanging out at home, or you can opt to just wear the outer shell if you want to go clog mode. Wearing both together, however, provides the most support, and if you own multiple colorways you can mix and match the booties and shells to create a brand new hybrid colorway.
