Following the launch of their Winter ’20 collection, Japanese visionary, creative, and archivist NIGO reunites with adidas Originals to present the HUMAN MADE x adidas SS21 collection, debuting two footwear silhouettes and a range of apparel.
For his SS21 collaboration, NIGO chose a “future is the past” theme, executed through combining classic adidas elements with bold colors and graphics. While previous HUMAN MADE x adidas collections saw personalization lightly applied to the Stan Smith, Campus, and Rivalry Low, this collection sees major revamps of the Forum Lo and Country silhouettes.
The Forum Lo silhouette features the same familiar upper as well as the signature strap. From there, the standard midsole has been swapped out for a full BOOST footbed and basketball tooling. HUMAN MADE touches are found in branded details such as heart logos on the quarter, “Dry Alls” on the straps, and “Gears for Futuristic Teenagers” on the heel clips and sock liners. The Country model comes in a more subtle approach in comparison, its upper remains unchanged, however, the midsole has also been swapped for a BOOST setup while “Gears for Futuristic Teenagers” branding finishes the synthetic leather Three Stripes.
The apparel side of the collaboration features the Firebird track jacket and pants, designed to convey a custom look inspired by retro souvenir jackets. Socks, wrist and headbands, and a graphic tee finish off the lineup.
The adidas Originals x HUMAN MADE SS21 collection will be available starting April 24th at adidas.com and select retailers, with a HUMAN MADE pre-sale on April 23rd. Each color scheme releases as a regional exclusive: white/green for North America and Latin America, gray/burgundy in Europe, and navy/yellow/white in Asia-Pacific countries.
