Levi’s x BEAMS “Super Wide V2” Collection

Japanese clothing brand and retailer BEAMS is gearing up to launch its fourth collection in collaboration with Levi’s.

The new “Super Wide V2” collection continues the Super Wide theme from the last BEAMS x Levi’s collab from two years ago. These offerings feature wider silhouettes, as the name implies, but also features “wider” details on each piece.

While the V1 collection paid homage to the Levi’s pieces from the 1950s, this time the brands have turned the clock back even further, drawing inspiration from Levi’s 1940s archive.

Inspired by the 1944 Levi’s denim jacket and 501 jean, the collection features the Super Wide V2 Type I Trucker and Super Wide V2 Jean, each offered in a light “Vintage Wash” and a dark “Rinse” color. The trucker jacket has been modified with a wider silhouette and has reduced the number of front buttons to four. The pocket flaps have also been removed for a more sleek design.

Meanwhile, the jeans feature hand-painted arcuate stitching on the back pockets, olive herringbone pocket lining, and plain donut buttons, all details that have been faithfully reproduced from the ’40s. Both the jeans and trucker jackets are made from thicker 16 oz fabric for enhanced durability, plus the selvedge has been changed from the traditional red to orange, BEAMS’ signature color. The main feature, however, is the double-wide 2-in-1 leather patch, found on both the jackets and jeans.

Rounding out the collection is a white graphic tee that features both company’s logos on the back, as well as a graphic of Levi’s signature arcuate stitching.

The Levi’s x BEAMS “Super Wide V2” collection will first launch at BEAMS stores in Japan on January 2nd before releasing globally December 9th on levi.com, the BEAMS website, and at select Levi’s stores and BEAMS stockists.
