Kids of Immigrants is back with a third colorway of their Nike Air Max SNDR collaboration, following the release of the first two colorways at the tail end of 2024.
This new Air Sunder Max colorway from the LA-based collective features a concrete grey nylon ripstop upper wrapped in a light blue, grid-like plastic cage, inspired by the longitude and latitude lines of a globe. This detail references the globe graphics commonly found on international prepaid phone cards that immigrants and children of immigrants often use to call loved ones back home. The suede toe caps come in a navy blue hue, while underfoot sits a black midsole with a speckled arch shank plate.
Judging by its name, “Concrete Sky,” we speculate that this colorway nods to the metaphorical glass and concrete ceilings that prevent people of color (especially women) from advancing in their careers. Once this seemingly impenetrable barrier is broken, the blue skies of an equitable future come into view.
The Kids of Immigrants x Nike Air Max SNDR “Concrete Sky” is slated to drop in the coming weeks on the Kids of Immigrants website, SNKRS, and at select retailers. Grab an early look below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
