A Bathing Ape’s collaboration with Timberland is not the only footwear drop the Japanese streetwear brand has this weekend. The BAPE x ASICS GEL-1090 is also on the way, a fusion of ASICS’ 2000s running aesthetic with BAPE’s Harajuku-influenced details of the same era.
First leaked back in June, this GEL-1090 includes the 2003 model’s original tiger claw marks on the toe overlays and heel counter, complemented by a tiger version of the ASICS spiral found on the left tongue and right heel. These match BAPE’s tiger shark motif on the medial side panel, a design inspired by those found on the nose of fighter jets. The militaristic vibes continue with the shoe’s olive green and orange color scheme and BAPE’s cloud camo pattern on the underlays and insoles.
The BAPE x ASICS GEL-1090 will go on sale on Sunday, August 22nd at A Bathing Ape authorized stores and BAPE.com. Check out official images below.
