After unleashing a collaboration with New Balance, BAPE is teaming up with another footwear brand in 2021. The streetwear giant is now taking on the ASICS GEL-1090.
For their first team-up since 2015’s GEL-LYTE V and GEL-KAYANO, A Bathing Ape and ASICS dress the 2003 running silhouette in an olive green-based camo with solid olive green suede overlays on the toe, heel, and eyestays. On the medial side panel, we see BAPE’s Tiger Shark motif, which fittingly complement the tiger claw marks on the 1090’s toe and heel. ASICS’ cross stripes logos on the lateral side panels are done up in orange to match the aforementioned tiger details. The tongues and heels feature yellow mismatching branding, with the right shoe featuring the ASICS “a” emblem and the left shoe featuring a different lowercase “a” that is is stylized to look like a tiger. The shoe sits atop of a black sole unit.
