Original Story (05/30/22): Jordan Brand is continuing its annual release of the Air Jordan 1 High ’85 in 2023. Following the release of the “Georgetown” colorway earlier this year, reports now indicate that that next year’s drop will come in OG black and white.
The differences between an ’85 OG and the more common Air Jordan 1 High OG retros are subtle but strike the nostalgia cords for those who remember when the shoes first came out over 35 years ago. Some differences include less of a curve on the heel than the High OG, a larger toe box, a more exaggerated Swoosh, and a slightly higher cut. The leather quality is also elevated to a stiffer leather and slight differences in the Wings logo.
This upcoming Air Jordan 1 High ’85 comes in a black and summit white color scheme in the ’85 shape. This colorway was one of the original colorways to release in 1985 and was first retro’d in 2008 as part of the Air Jordan 22/1 Retro “Countdown Pack.” It was later retro’d again in 2014 in High OG form. The 2023 Air Jordan 1 High ’85 release comes as close to the original with the white leather base and black overlays. The pair also features the OG cardboard hang tag.
The Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “Black/White” is expected to release in February 2023 as part of Jordan Brand’s 2023 All-Star lineup. Catch them on SNKRS and at select retailers at a price of $200 USD. Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
