adidas Introduces its Next Gen 4D Technology: 4DFWD

0

Adidas has announced 4DFWD, the next iteration of 4D technology aimed at creating a fundamentally new type of performance running silhouette.

Ever since 4D technology’s initial debut, adidas has hoped to maximize the mechanical and performance potential of the 3D-printed technology. Now, in continued partnership with Carbon, they’ve created a highly optimized lattice structure made from 40% bio-based material designed to turn the downward energy exerted by each step of a runner’s stride into sheared horizontal energy to propel the wearer forward. Compared to previous 4D midsoles, adidas says 4DFWD generates up to three times as much forward movement under vertical load and performs comparably to UltraBOOST midsoles in lab conditions.

The new adidas 4DFWD midsole will be conjoined to a new super-lightweight PRIMEKNIT upper made from recycled materials. The new upper is data-tuned to perfectly conform and complement the 4DFWD midsole, meaning that both elements of the shoe are at their best together. The shoe will launch in three distinct colorways, with a special Tokyo Collection colorway to be worn by podium athletes at the upcoming Olympic Games. The initial release of the adidas 4DFWD will be made available to Creator’s Club members starting on May 15th. The Tokyo Collection colorway will release (likely as an exclusive in some form) starting on July 1st, with a global drop to follow on August 12th.
