New Balance has announced the release of its new ABZORB 2000 silhouette, debuting in a sleek “Baby Blue” colorway.
The ABZORB 2000 features a layered mesh and synthetic upper, paired with a chunky sculpted sole unit equipped with full-length ABZORB SBS cushioning. While the ABZORB 2000 and ABZORB 2010 both draw inspiration from early 2000s running sneakers, the ABZORB 2000 offers a more modern aesthetic with its streamlined design and fluid lines.
“The real challenge in designing the ABZORB 2000 was finding the right balance between heritage and modernity,” says Charlotte Lee, New Balance Design Manager. “We wanted to amplify those iconic design cues, like the ABZORB SBS gel cushioning, but rework them through a contemporary lens. It’s that tension between the past and the present that really drives our design philosophy.”
The silhouette first made its appearance earlier this year on the streets of São Paulo, worn by artist Soares 4R. This debut led to a full activation in the Brazilian metropolis dubbed Casa ABZORB—a creative hub featuring a music studio for local artists, an ABZORB-branded pool, and a showcase of upcoming ABZORB 2000 colorways.
The New Balance ABZORB 2000 “Baby Blue” drops June 12th on the New Balance website and at select retailers. Check out the official images below.
