Original Story (02/27/25): Now that the “Chicago/Shadow” Union 1s have officially dropped, we turn our attention to the next Union Jordan 1 release, a three-way collaboration between Union owner Chris Gibbs, the Jumpman, and Hiroshi Fujiwara of fragment design. Here’s what we know so far:
The Union LA x FRGMT x Air Jordan 1 High OG will feature the chopped-and-screwed design methodology of combining two different colorways together that was introduced on the first two Union Air Jordan 1 colorways in 2018. This time around, the design will pay homage to Hiroshi Fujiwara and Chris Gibbs’ shared love of the original 1985 “Black Toe” colorway of the Air Jordan 1. The bottom half of the shoe will feature the same “Royal Black Toe” color blocking as the 2014 fragment x Air Jordan 1, while the ankle collar will be black with a red overlay, the same as the OG “Black Toe.”
Chris Gibbs and Hiroshi Fujiwara began work on their joint project on the set of Jordan Brand’s star-studded “Unbannable” campaign that launched earlier this year. The shoot took place in New York City in September 2024, while everyone was in town for Fashion Week.

“Hiroshi is pivotal. I look up to him a LOT,” says Chris Gibbs in an interview with Sneaker News. “I’m part of the generation that came after him. He is one of my forefathers — Eddie Cruz, Fraser Cooke, James Jebbia, these guys were all retailers just like me. Going back to that Jordan photoshoot last September – we had a meeting there to kick off the Union x Fragment Design project. That’s what start it all. We went out, had a blast, it was just a crazy night.”
The UNION x FRGMT x Air Jordan 1 High OG is expected to drop in Spring 2026 via UNION, SNKRS, and select retailers. Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for more details.
