Vans reunites Boys of Summer on a new collection of footwear featuring the Sk8-Hi, Skate MC Mid, and AVE Classic silhouettes.
Boys of Summer are known for their lighthearted, nostalgic videos that encapsulate the core essence of skateboarding. The Boys gained notoriety for their videos featuring skateboarding legends, up-and-comers, and friends, highlighting the bonds between the crew as they travel and skate together. Basically just homies having fun.
Like with their previous collaboration in 2021, Vans and BOS takes inspiration from these bonds to introduce a collection of “shared pro models” that display a skater’s name on the left shoe and a friend’s name on the right.
First up, famed photographer Atiba Jefferson links up with his twin brother and Vans Art Director Ako Jefferson on the Skate MC Mid, resurrecting Mike Carroll’s pro model from back in the day. The shoe features the Jefferson brother’s signatures on the tongues and outsoles, red BOS branding on the translucent midsoles, Vans side stripes made of perforations, and rope laces.
Next, Anthony Van Engelen takes on his AVE Classic model with his friend, skate legend Eric Dressen. Life the previous model, this one comes with a black upper and features the same translucent sole design with BOS branding, though this time in blue. The skaters’ names appear on the lateral heels and outsoles.
Rounding out the collection is a Sk8-Hi celebrating BOS’s Tino Razo and Cody Simmons. The shoe comes with a two-tone white and black upper along with the skaters’ names embroidered on each of the heels. In addition, the translucent sole is outfitted with white BOS branding and, in theme with the collection, showcases the names again in cursive on the outsoles.
The Vans x Boys of Summer collection is available starting Thursday, May 12th via Vans.com, the Boys of Summer website (9am PT), and select skate shops. Check out the collection, as well as the trippy 3D-animated campaign video, below.
