Union is remixing the classic Wallabee for their first-ever collaboration with Clarks Originals.
Inspired by mesh-based running shoes of the ’80s, the Union x Clarks Wallabee features mesh paneling combined with suede and leather overlays. For the shape, Union chose to go with the hike version of the Wallabee, which features a wider toe box and a slimmer crepe sole. Union has also added a leather welt to the design, while also adding some of its own signature design motifs such as the UN/LA tag on the ankle collar and zig-zag stitching on the back of the heel. Union branding appears on the leather footbed and on the suede hangtags.
Union dedicates this collaboration to NYC hip-hop. The pack is named “Crazy Visions” after a lyric from the Ghostface Killah song “Glaciers of Ice,” which opens with a whole verse about getting a new pair of Clarks and customizing them. “Yo, I got a crazy idea how to do Clarks now / Check it out, boom, this is how you freak ’em, boom.”
The “Crazy Visions” includes two colorways. The “Covert Green” pair draws inspiration from military aesthetics, while the “Cameo Rose” colorway pays homage to Cam’ron and his iconic pink outfits. Both pairs feature Union’s signature yellow as accents, which is inspired by Chris Gibbs’ West Indies heritage.
