2020 has seen Nike give numerous creators the ability to present a custom colorway of a Nike silhouette via Nike’s “Nike By You” platform. The latest in this series, an Air Max 90 from DJ duo Shabbaaaaa Sound System, was inspired by the group’s trip to Jamaica before the spread of COVID-19.
The model uses muted, earthy takes on the colors of the Jamaican flag—green, yellow, and black. While the Shabbaaaaa Air Max 90’s upper is primarily white with a black Swoosh, the shoe’s heel tab comes in olive green and features yellow Nike branding. Accents on the model come in the form of a chlorophyll-green air bubble and a gum outsole. Finally, “SHABB AAAAA” branding graces the silhouette’s branded tongue tabs, cementing the model as original to the DJs that helped design it.
You can purchase the Shabbaaaaa x Nike By You Air Max 90 via Nike’s website, and users have the option of making further customizations to the model if they want to. All shoes on the Nike By You platform ship somewhat slower than normal Nike sneakers because they’re custom-built, but having one’s own unique pair is truly something to behold.
