The premiere of Stranger Things Season 4 is almost here. To celebrate, Quiksilver and Netflix have teamed up on a series of apparel collections centered around ’80s nostalgia.
One of the most-watched shows in Netflix history, Stranger Things takes place in the ’80s in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. The collaboration with Quiksilver captures the long heritage of west coast surf and skate culture prevalent in the ’80s, as well as the vintage aesthetic that has become popular in recent years. This is the latest collaboration between the Stranger Things wardrobe team and Quiksilver, who have been working together for the past three years.
“Working so closely with the Stranger Things costume designer has been such a unique and special collaborative journey,” says Quiksilver Product Director Andrew Henry. “We’ve been able to revive classic styles from the 1986 and 1987 Quik archive to align with Stranger Things 4, creating specific apparel for cast members and consumers alike. We’re excited to tell Quiksilver’s story through this season of Stranger Things and reach a new audience through the lens of a show they know and love.”
The collections include era-specific wardrobe pieces seen on the show, fashion-forward men’s and women’s apparel, and surf-inspired ‘80s infused items. Five different collections will be releasing in total: The 1986 Capsule, The Character Wardrobe Collection, Surfer Boy Pizza Collection, Lenora Hills Surf Club Collection, and Hellfire Surf Club Collection.
The assortment includes vintage all-over print shirts, pants, and button-ups while other pieces give a nod to Quiksilver’s west coast heritage through hoodies and graphic tees. Plenty of outerwear choices are also available with well-established ’80s staples consisting of jean jackets, quarter-zips, and work jackets. Also part of the collections is a co-branded set of hoodies, shorts, pants, and more featuring the iconic Stranger Things title styling.
The collaboration would not be complete without the range of board shorts, swimsuits, and accompanying beachwear. As for accessories, hats, sunglasses, and waist bags round out the extensive collections.
To celebrate the collaboration, Quiksilver has released a short film tilted “Strange Surfing” featuring a cast of Quiksilver riders and friends including Kanoa Igarashi, Andy Nieblas, Mikey Wright, Rio Waida, Miles Fallon, Frankie Harrer, Janthavy Norton, Stephen Milner. They are joined by Stranger Things Season 4 character Argyle, played by Eduardo Franco, in the campaign imagery, which can be viewed below. Quiksilver also plans to hold unique pop-ups and large-scale activations globally in celebration of the premiere and collaboration.
Drop One from the Quiksilver x Netflix Stranger Things collection features the 1986 Capsule and will be available starting on May 20th. The second drop includes the Character Wardrobe, Surfer Boy Pizza, Lenora Hills Surf Club, and Hellfire Surf Club collections and is set to launch on May 27th to coincide with the premiere of Stranger Things Season 4.
