PUMA has made great strides in its basketball department since signing LaMelo Ball back in 2020. Quickly after LaMelo’s signature MB.01 made its debut, the two have brought multiple colorways of the silhouette, even dropping a coveted Rick and Morty collaboration just last month. To latest colorway, dubbed the “Queen City,” Ball pays tribute to the city where LaMelo started his NBA career: Charlotte, North Carolina.
Originally showcased by LaMelo during the 2022 Cleveland All-Star Game, the majestic purple and teal-accented MB.01 “Queen City” uses Nitro Foam in the midsole for superior responsiveness and comfort while remaining lightweight. It also highlights LaMelo’s signature wings design and “1 of 1” styling on the medial side and tongue tag.
As this colorway nods to the city of Charlotte, PUMA and LaMelo are also giving back to the Charlotte community by refurbishing two basketball courts at L.C. Coleman Neighborhood Park. The courts incorporate design elements from the sneakers and come painted in the bold color palettes of the “Queen City” and “Buzz City” colorways.
The PUMA x LaMelo Ball MB.01 “Queen City” will be available starting on March 18th at PUMA.com, Foot Locker, Champs Sports, and Eastbay.
