Original Story (07/22/22): One of the most celebrated releases of 2021 was the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 “Wave” series. The shoe released in four colorways and is now getting a couple more. Following a reveal of a fifth colorway in white, we now have a look at the sixth colorway.
The sixth entry in the Patta Air Max 1 “Wave” series features a mix of colors found throughout the previous colorways. The upper comes in burnt orange leather, nodding to the orange “Monarch” colorway, with additional pops of burnt orange used for the laces and lip of the tongue. The magenta hue on the sockliner is similar to the “Rush Maroon” colorway, while pops of teal on the heel embroidery, insoles, and top eyelets are pulled from the “Noise Aqua.” Finally, the outsole and tongue tag come in black, nodding to the black Patta Air Max 1.

Update (08/08/22): Patta has announced the release of this Air Max 1, official colorway name “Dark Russet.” This is one of two colorways dropping as part of Patta’s “The Next Wave” campaign, inspired by the African proverb “Each One Teach One” and Patta’s unrelenting vision to create a connected, and prosperous Patta community around the world.
In the spirit of the collection, Patta will host a 2-day mentorship exchange at Nike’s SHAPA Soweto community center in Johannesburg. “SHAPA serves as a safe space for the next generation of athletes and leaders. By bringing an exchange via the Patta Academy, we are thrilled to collaborate and connect with some of the brightest kids on the African continent through SHAPA,” says Gee Schmidt, co-founder of Patta.
The Patta x Nike Air Max 1 “Dark Russet” will be available on Friday, August 12th at 13:00 CEST (7am ET) on nike.patta.nl. Launching the same day in Patta stores, on SNKRS in Europe, and Thesis retail store in Johannesburg.
