HugsNoSlugs is a nonprofit organization founded by activist Aleta Clark, better known as Englewood Barbie, from Chicago’s South Side. It is dedicated to serving the community through various methods, including feeding the homeless, opening safe houses, putting events together for children, and getting guns of the streets. To aid in the org’s anti-gun violence efforts, it has teamed up with Virgil Abloh and Off-White on a limited edition tee.
The Off-White x HugsNoSlugs tee aims to redefine what it means to be a “Gangsta.” “Being a Gangsta to me means you’re a solid individual that stands on everything you believe in,” explains Englewood Barbie. “You finish what you start and you send the elevator back down to everyone who desires to come to the top .. even if you haven’t made there yourself. I’m a Gangsta and I never had to hurt a soul to get my respect and that’s what I’m putting out.”
