Nike SB Honors Sandy Bodecker With the Sandy ZoomX Bruin

Nike SB would not be where it is today without the late Sandy Bodecker. One of the most creative minds in Nike’s history, Bodecker always believed that skateboarding should be seen as an elite sport and was hopeful that it would one day be a part of the Olympic games. That day has now come. Nike SB is paying special tribute to Sandy Bodecker during the Tokyo Olympics with the release of the Sandy ZoomX Bruin.

The performance skate shoe’s design pulls from Bodecker’s boundary-pushing project, Breaking2, which led to the creation of Nike’s NEXT% running technology. The iconic 1972 Nike Bruin is updated with a drop-in midsole that combines ZoomX foam for cushioning and a full-length carbon plate. The upper also pulls from Breaking2, constructed from a strong yet lightweight Flyknit hybrid with a skeleton that helps maintain the shoe’s shape. The colors of the upper are pulled from a Mark Smith painting of Sandy that hangs in The Bodecker Foundation space in Portland, Oregon.

The Nike SB Sandy ZoomX Bruin will be available in a limited release in Tokyo this summer.
