Nike Is Bringing Back the “Philly” Kobe 4

0

We have a stacked lineup of Kobes releasing very soon. Slated to drop on April 13th are three different Protros of Nike Kobes from throughout the years: the Kobe 8 “Venice Beach,” the Kobe 6 “Italian Camo,” and the Kobe 4 “Philly.”

Why April 13th? Well that is the anniversary of Kobe Bryant’s last ever NBA game. On this date in 2016, Kobe capped off his iconic career with 60 points in a win vs the Utah Jazz. Who can forget the legendary “Mamba out” sign off at the end of his post-game farewell speech. For this reason, we’ll be calling this trio of releases the “Mamba Out” pack.

We’ve already covered the history of the Venice Beach and Italian Camo pairs, so in this post we’ll be focusing on the “Philly” Kobe 4 Protro. This colorway originally released in 2009 as a tribute to the city of Philadelphia, Kobe Bryant’s hometown. The blue, white, and red color scheme draws inspiration from the Philadelphia 76ers, which was actually the team that Kobe’s father Joe Bryant played for in the ’70s. Special features of this colorway include star decals on the ankle collars and Kobe Bryant’s birth date printed on the insoles.

The Nike Kobe 4 Protro “Philly” is set to release on April 13th on SNKRS and at select retailers. Check out the official images below.
