Original Story (11/28/23): With an extensive run of Protro releases, it is clear that Kobe Bryant’s Nike footwear styles will continue to be celebrated for many years to come. After introducing the Kobe 8 Protro with a new all-white “Halo” colorway earlier this year, Nike is now bringing back some throwback Kobe 8 colorways, including the vibrant and energetic style of the “Venice Beach” colorway.
Originally released in 2013 during the Kobe 8’s initial run, the Nike Kobe 8 “Venice Beach” stood out from other basketball sneakers with its colorful upper inspired by the lively atmosphere of Venice Beach, a neighborhood in LA known for its graffiti, skateboarding scene, and streetball courts. While Kobe never wore the wild red, yellow, grey, and teal colorway during an NBA game, he was spotted wearing them while on a trip to Rio de Janeiro where he met with soccer icon Ronaldinho.
