Nike Basketball and Kevin Durant officially unveil the KD15.
For the 15th installment in the Nike KD series, Durant wanted to return to a lower profile to feel like he’s closer to the ground. KD and the Nike Basketball team looked at retro Nike basketball sneakers for inspiration, including the Jet Flight, a low-top model from 2001 worn by current Nets head coach Steve Nash during his NBA career.
The KD15 features a full Nike Cushlon midsole paired with a Zoom Air Strobel footbel for maximum responsiveness and energy return. A lightweight mesh toe design provides a broken-in feel and “distraction-free fit,” while an injected TPU cage and 3D-molded heel component act as a containment system to keep your foot on the footbed while making agile movements. Swoosh logos on the cage face in opposite directions on the lateral and medial sides, a nod to KD being a two-way player. Additional personal touches include Durant’s “07” jersey number on the bottom of the heels and his “Easy Money” logo on the heel pull tabs.
The first colorway for the KD15 will be the “Beginnings,” which Durant debuted last night during Game 1 against Boston. It features a black and navy mesh upper, light blue sockliner and laces, and childhood-inspired graphics covering the tongue.
The Nike KD15 “Beginnings” colorway launches this summer on Nike.com and at select retailers, followed by additional colorways throughout the year. Check out official images below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for release updates.
