Original Story (01/18/24): Nostalgic fans of Nike Basketball’s early 2010s era are in for a treat as the KD 4 makes a big return in 2024. The Swoosh is bringing back Kevin Durant’s fourth signature model in coveted colorways, such as the “Nerf” and “Weatherman,” as well as the out-of-this-world “Galaxy.”
The “Galaxy” KD 4 originally released as part of a space-themed pack for NBA All-Star 2012 in Orlando, which also included a “Galaxy” Kobe 7, the “Big Bang” LeBron 9, and the “Galaxy” Air Foamposite One. It featured a metallic silver upper with orange accents that nod to astronaut suits. A NASA-inspired badge appears on the tongues, while the midsole comes in a glossy black with star-like speckling inspired by outer space. Additional features include 3M reflective accents, galaxy print on the sockliner and insoles, and a green-tinted glow-in-the-dark outsole.
While confirmed by sneaker leakers for months, Kevin Durant took to his Instagram story to officially announced the return of the KD 4 “Galaxy.” As seen in KD’s announcement post, the 2024 retro version remains true to the original design from 2012.
