Nike’s Latest Attack Pays Homage to McEnroe’s 1984 Challenge Court

Before John McEnroe started rocking the Mac Attack on the court, his footwear of choice was the Nike Challenge Court Mid. The tennis superstar won the 1984 Wimbledon’s men’s singles championship while wearing a primarily white colorway of this shoe, accented with navy Swoosh and a red ankle collar trim. Nike released a retro of this colorway in 2012 that opted for a navy ankle collar instead of white, while also adding a VNTG midsole to it to hearken back to its ’80s legacy.

As the Mac Attack is now being reintroduced to the market, Nike is bringing back this colorway, once again with a vintage treatment, only this time on John McEnroe’s signature shoe. Uppers are done up in a white mesh, paired with off-white leather overlays and a yellowed midsole to make the shoes look like their straight from 1984. Cracked leather on the Swoosh and ankle collar added to the vintage aesthetic, and the ankle collar once again comes in navy like the 2012 Challenge Court retro.

The Nike Attack PRM “Challenge Court” is set to release in the coming months via SNKRS and select retailers. Check out official images below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety with updates.
