Kylian Mbappé Debuts TN-Inspired Nike Mercurial

Nike Football is bringing the classic Air Max Plus to the pitch with the release of the Air Mercurial TN.

Debuted by PSG superstar Kylian Mbappé, the Air Mercurial TN takes the Mercurial Superfly 9 Elite FG soccer cleat and tweaks its Vaporposite+ upper to mirror the design of the Air Max Plus. The Mercurial’s tooling remains untouched, leaving the soccer-specific 3/4 Zoom Air unit in place. As such, the “Tn Air” branding from the Air Max Plus has been replaced with “Zm Air” branding on the cleat, as well as on its special packaging. The Air Mercurial TN is launching in the “Voltage Purple” colorway of the Air Max Plus, a fan-favorite OG colorway that originally dropped in 1998.

If soccer isn’t your thing and you just want the OG Air Max Plus, you’re in luck. Nike will also be dropping the “Voltage Purple” TN soon, pushed back from its expected Holiday 2023 release. Also worth noting that while Mbappé was seen unboxing a special package that features both the Air Mercurial TN and the Air Max Plus, the Air Mercurial TN will be sold standalone at retail.

According to Nike, the Air Mercurial TN is “coming soon in limited numbers.” Expect these to drop in the coming weeks on Nike.com. For now, grab a detailed look below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
