It’s May 1st, which means New Balance’s annual Grey Days celebration has officially kicked off. The month-long event bringing together the brand’s family of ambassadors and athletes for a range of special-edition products, events, and stories that highlight the unique and timeless qualities of grey, New Balance’s signature color.
As running shoe design shifted away from leather and suede and towards synthetic textiles, vivid colors and bright whites became a standard across the industry. Not at New Balance though. To stand out against the competitors, the brand decided to keep the grey color scheme they’ve been using since the 1980s, which proved to be a perfect complement to the concrete and asphalt backdrop of road running. Today, grey remains emblematic of New Balance’s aesthetic and an iconic symbol of the brand worldwide.
The 2025 Grey Days festivities begin with the opening of The Grey Shop, now live at New Balance stores and the New Balance website. The classic shade appears across 21 footwear and 11 apparel styles that will drop throughout the month of May, many of them available now. Highlights on the release calendar include the 1906 Loafer on May 14th, the ABZORB 2010 and 471 on May 22nd, the Andrew Reynolds Numeric 933 on May 26th, and the 1300JP on May 29th.
To highlight all of Grey Days releases, New Balance has launched the Grey Days lookbook, featuring an all-star cast of brand ambassadors that includes Aminé, Cameron Brink, Sainté, Gabby Thomas, and Storm Reid.
