New Balance 580s Coming in Mad Hectic x Stüssy Colors

0

After reintroducing the MT580 with a couple of stellar collaborations with Palace and Stray Rats, New Balance is now gearing up to drop a handful of its own inline colorways. For fans of the silhouette in the early ’00s, a couple of these new colorways may seem familiar.

For a bit of context, the MT580 originally released in 1996 exclusively in Japan. Throughout the 2000s, the silhouette was extensively worked on by Japanese streetwear brand Real Mad Hectic, dropping numerous collaborations and often bringing in a third party to join in on the fun. In 2003, Real Mad Hectic linked up with Stüssy on two colorways of the 580, which came in brown and olive colorways similar to Stüssy’s Nike Huarache collab that dropped a couple years prior. New Balance is now using these colorways as inspiration for two new GR colorways of the 580.

The upcoming 580 “Brown” and “Olive” colorways essentially take the 2003 “Real Mad Stüssy” colorways and swaps the colors of the mesh base. One pair features a yellow mesh upper with brown overlays and a hit of red on the tongue tags, while the other features a cream mesh base, pale olive overlays, yellow trim on the N logo, and green and yellow tongue branding.

Check out these upcoming New Balance 580 colorways below. Expect these to release in the coming months on NewBalance.com and at select retailers. Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for an official release date.
