Netflix has announced the development of a live-action Assassin’s Creed TV series.
While the show is in the extremely early stages of development (and doesn’t yet have a showrunner), Netflix and Ubisoft have confirmed that it is indeed on the way to the streaming platform. The duo also announced that an animated show and an anime will eventually be developed based on the game, but it seems that the live-action show is taking the developmental spotlight for now.
The show will mark the second big-budget attempt to adapt the immensely popular video game series. 2016’s Assassin’s Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender was largely panned by critics and fans, so it’s not entirely surprising that Ubisoft would want to take another good stab at a live-action version of the property. The news also comes relatively soon after the announcement that Netflix is set to make a live-action Resident Evil series with Capcom, which should likely arrive well before the Assassin’s creed series.
