Independent sneaker designer and customizer Mache is launching a new “Maize” colorway of his own silhouette, the Mache Runner. The concept was inspired by Corn Kid, a viral sensation that has taken social media by storm.
Corn Kid, whose real name is Tariq, was featured in the Youtube series Recess Therapy earlier this month. His love of corn has since spread like wildfire throughout Instagram and Twitter and has even been remixed into a TikTok song.
The “Maize” Mache Runner comes dressed in corntastic yellow nubuck and tumbled leather with green accents throughout. Additional details include 3M reflective underlays, breathable mesh tongues, corn graphic insoles, and a Vibram midsole and outsole. Mache has also cooked up a “Maize” butter hoodie and a “Maize” snapback to release alongside the shoes.
To help promote the release, Mache enlisted Corn Kid himself to announce that the Mache Runner “Maize” is available for pre-order now on the Mache Customs website. The pre-order window will close on Monday, August 29th at 11am ET and shoes will ship in approximately 12-14 weeks. Check out the Mache Runner “Maize” below.
