Balenciaga held its Spring 23 show in NYC this weekend on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. The presentation marked the debut of the label’s collaboration with adidas, though there was also a new boot style introduced that has caused quite the buzz.
Dubbed the Steroid Boot, the attention-grabbing oversized boot is described by Balenciaga as “thick in volume but lightweight, made from a single mold using super-exaggerated proportions.” Kanye West, a boot connoisseur and frequent collaborator of Balenciaga creative director Demna, actually debuted the Steroid Boot ahead of the show. Ye was spotted rocking the boots on the streets of NYC on his way to the presentation.
Other footwear styles unveiled at the show were a Steroid Derby with the same exaggerated proportions and a Balenciaga x adidas Destroyed Stan Smith. Check out all three styles in the pics below. Expect these to officially drop in Spring 2023 on Balenciaga.com and at Balenciaga stores.
