Jaden Smith is often in the cultural news cycle, whether for his philanthropic endeavors or music explorations. Another area in which he excels is fashion. This time around, he and New Balance are vamping a bright Vision Racer to follow up the Earth Day “ReWorked” colorway.
The Smith protegé and the footwear giant’s shoe flexes color and design mold elements from the X-Racer and 1700. Pink is the stand-out color that coats the mesh and suede upper. It combines well with silver details found on either side of the midfoot. A thin ((VISION)) RACER runs along a thin stripe along the upper, along with “Do You See It Yet?” stamped within a translucent outsole. Additional branding finds itself along the midfoot, heel and tongue tab in typical New Balance fashion. What stands out against a typical NB shoe is the hyper-chunky midsole that give the construction its weight and eccentric, high-fashion feel.
As Smith is known for his passion for the environment, it’s only fitting that the Vision Racer be made from recycled polyester, castor bean oil and EVA foam. It stands with the intent to utilize the three Rs of sustainability and cut down on toxic production. The Vision Racer, now releasing in its 8th iteration, the Vision Racer, now releasing its 8th iteration, has pushed the New Balance supply chain further and helped speed up the brand’s timeline to leverage more sustainable and vegan-friendly materials.
