Original Story (06/13/22): G-Dragon has always pushed to bridge South Korean culture with the west, easily regarded as a key pioneer of Korean music, fashion, and design. In late 2019, the South Korean icon would go on to collaborate with Nike on a pair of Air Force 1s dubbed “Para-Noise.” This was arguably one of the best Air Force 1s to release that year with its boundary-pushing design concepts, including a breakaway painted upper with a hidden design underneath.
It was not long before Nike gave G-Dragon a chance to design his own signature model, the Kwondo 1. The silhouette expands on the inspirations from South Korean culture with designs reminiscent of wingtip oxfords with nods to football and golf sneaker aesthetics.
For G-Dragon’s latest collaboration with Nike, the Kwondo 1 takes on a “Panda” color scheme accentuating its already formal design. The upper takes on a white base with black accents on the wingtips, eye stay, and heel. The black is also extended to the midsole, Swoosh, and the removable lace covering. PEACEMINUSONE branding is present on the left lace guard while Nike branding adorns the right. The Kwondo 1 “Panda” also features the PEACEMINUSONE Daisy logo stitched on the heel with matching flowers embossed on the outsole.
The G-Dragon PEACEMINUSONE x Nike Kwondo 1 “Panda” is expected to release this year on SNKRS for $180 USD. Grab a first look below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
