Boston-based retailer Bodega is celebrating its 15th year of business with a Vault by Vans collaboration. Bodega was founded in 2006 as a fusion of art, fashion, design, and counterculture by three struggling artists, Jay Gordon, Dan Natola, and Oliver Mak. It has taken off since then and become an important part of the culture.
Nicknamed “High Note,” the Bodega x Vault by Vans OG Style 36 Style LX is inspired by the DIY nature of bootleg designer goods. Premium materials like black tumbled leather and suede make up the upper’s construction. A varied Jazz Stripe strikes through the upper with white on the lateral side and hairy tan suede on the medial. Other key elements include rawhide laces, contrast stitching in white, a pink sockliner, and a silver metallic tongue with a reworked Louis Vuitton-inspired checkerboard pattern. The Bodega wordmark is repeated around the thick white midsole which houses the bright pink waffle outsole.
“The goal was to take a more timeless and elevated design approach while retaining the ethos that Bodega was built upon over the past 15 years, especially in relation to our partnership with Vans,” says Matt Zaremba of Bodega.
