Bodega and ASICS have been collaborative partners for ten years now, first coming together on the GEL-LYTE V “Get Wet” pack in 2014. To celebrate a decade of Bodega x ASICS, the two are back with a new project in 2024, the GEL-KAYANO 20 “Small Wins Add Up.”
Originally released in 2013 as a performance running shoe, the GEL-KAYANO 20 has been adopted by the fashionista crowd, recently receiving a NIGO-designed collaboration with KENZO. For their “Small Wins Add Up” edition, Bodega nods to the shoe’s marathon running origins, designed with the trials and tribulations of everyday life in mind while highlighting the small wins that are often forgotten or taken for granted.
Bodega’s GEL-KAYANO 20 comes dressed primarily in white across its double-layered mesh upper, with an added black honeycomb mesh layer on the tongues and medial ankle collars. Cement grey overlays and white paint speckling on the midsoles contribute to the mid-2000s utilitarian aesthetic, while the pops of bright green and golden yellow symbolize the light at the end of the tunnel after chipping away at the steps between you and your goals.
