After adding the Gazelle silhouette to his sneaker resume earlier this year, Bad Bunny is now introducing a new model as part of his partnership with adidas, the Adizero SL 72.
The Adizero SL 72 reinterprets adidas’ archives by bridging two eras and two iconic silhouettes into one revolutionary design. Symbolizing a union between the ’70s and the ’00s, the shoe combines the upper of the classic SL 72 with the modern Adizero sole.
Bad Bunny and adidas present three colorways of the Adizero SL 72, each one representing a different pillar of their partnership. The “Active” colorway comes in a sporty mix of colors that pay homage to the the SL 72’s retro running roots. The blue/white upper portion takes on heritage adidas color-blocking, while the yellow and black portion references the Adios Neftenga, a long-distance running shoe from 2008 that was recently revived by Wales Bonner.
The next colorway, representing “Comfort,” comes dressed primarily in white for a cloud-like aesthetic. This is a stark contrast to the final colorway, “High Fashion,” which comes in a bold mix of maroon, orange, blue, and green.
The accompanying campaign is inspired by the theme “Shift the Timeline,” and is centered around the idea of looking to the future while honoring the past. Just like how the Adizero SL 72 is a mash-up of two different eras, the campaign utilizes creative elements such as double exposures, cropped photos, and mixed media from each era to create a mash-up visual style.
The Bad Bunny x adidas Adizero SL 72 will be available December 14th at adidas flagship stores and the adidas website. Raffles are also now open on the CONFIRMED app. Check out all three colorways below.
