Original Story (11/28/24): Jordan Brand is introducing a new “Rare Air” series of Air Jordan retros in 2025 as part of the Jumpman’s 40th anniversary celebration. Each pair of footwear in this series features a unique spin on the traditional Air Jordan branding.
Included in this series is a “Rare Air” Jordan 4 Retro, featuring a black nubuck upper with dark grey toe caps, and Fire Red and Deep Royal Blue accents throughout. The branding twist for this pair appears on the tongue, which features interchangeable velcro patches. Printed on these patches is the traditional Jumpman logo with Flight branding, though these can be removed to reveal the “Jordan Rare Air” branding underneath. Additional “Rare Air” branding is printed on the insoles. Also note that these feature “Nike Air” branding on the heels, a design cue usually reserved for OG colorways and special projects.
The 2025 “Rare Air” series will also include an Air Jordan 3, two colorways of the Air Jordan 1 High OG, and an Air Jordan 11.
Look for the Air Jordan 4 “Rare Air” to drop as part of Jordan Brand’s Summer 2025 lineup on SNKRS and at select retailers. Grab an early look below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
Update (12/17/24): New photos gives us a first look at the Air Jordan 4 “Rare Air” packaging. These come in the black and silver Air Jordan face box, introduced by Jordan Brand in 2001. Grab a look below.
Update (04/15/25): The Air Jordan 4 “Rare Air” will release in two slightly different variations. One version features white “Jordan Rare Air” branding beneath the velcro tongue patches, while the other has this branding in metallic gold. It’s rumored that 25% of the stock will include the gold lettering, though you won’t know which version you’ve got until you have them in hand. Expect a July 26th release.
