The adidas AE 1 has been one of the hottest performance basketball shoes since it first hit the the market in December. After dropping in the “With Love” and “New Wave” colorways, adidas is now releasing a special version to celebrate Anthony Edwards’ second all-star selection.
This All-Star colorway of the AE 1 is officially called “The Future,” nodding to its futuristic look as well as how Anthony Edwards is the future of the NBA. It features an iridescent plum-colored coating on its Generative Support Wing TPU overlay that shifts color in different lighting. This is a drastic departure from the matte finishes found on previous releases. However, the base of the shoe retains its usual black knit construction. Pops of neon green are then used for the branding on the heels and tongues, while the toe cap features reflective 3M detailing. Lastly, underfoot is a BOOST and Lightstrike midsole with a black herringbone traction outsole.
adidas AE 1 “The Future” (aka “All-Star”) drops ahead of NBA All-Star Weekend, releasing on Friday, February 16th at midnight PST on adidas.com. This colorway will also be available at select retailers such as Foot Locker. Check out the official images and detailed shots below.
