Back in October, trusted sneaker leaker zSneakerHeadz broke the news that A Ma Maniére had two Jordan Brand collaborations in the works for 2024, one on the Air Jordan 3 and another on the Air Jordan 4. We now have a first look at one of the upcoming projects, the AMM x Air Jordan 4 “Phantom.”
While out in Paris for Paris Fashion Week, The Whitaker Group founder James Whitner was spotted rocking a new colorway of the AMM x AJ4, a follow-up to the first colorway released in 2022. This new version features an off-white upper with a slight purple tint, a contrast to the dark purple used on the first colorway. We can also see that the shoe comes with clear backtabs adorned with what appears to be the AMM “A” logo, paired with Nike Air branding peeking out from the under layer.
We would be remiss if we didn’t mention Whitner’s recent allegations. Court documents show that James Whitner is facing a civil forfeiture complaint, being accused of taking part in a $32 million international money laundering scheme that involves the improper reselling of footwear to a buyer in China. Whitner responded to these allegations in a statement, saying that they are “unfounded, unrelated to our business or this community and unjustified.” It appears that Jordan Brand is on James Whitner’s side and will continue its ongoing partnership with The Whitaker Group.
The A Ma Maniére x Air Jordan 4 “Phantom” is expected to drop this July via A Ma Maniére, SNKRS, and select retailers. These will come in women’s extended sizing. Grab a first look below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
