Following the release of their “Itchy & Scratchy” pack, adidas and The Simpsons are continuing their partnership with a special Rivalry 86 Low that pays homage to Bart and his “evil” twin Hugo.
While the Three Stripes have dropped several shoes in collaboration with The Simpsons, this marks the first release that pays homage to the ‘Treehouse of Horror’ series, the show’s annual Halloween special. Dropping just in time for spooky season, the “Bart & Hugo” Rivalry Low nods to Treehouse of Horror VII episode when Bart finds out he was a conjoined twin at birth. As the “evil and cruel twin”, Hugo had been confined to living in the attic as was only fed a bucket of fish heads once a week.
The “Bart & Hugo” Rivalry Low comes dressed primarily in orange canvas with distressed edges to represent Hugo’s tattered clothes. The yellow leather paneling on the medial sides feature an embroidered “scar,” representing the scar that were left on Bart and Hugo’s torsos after they were separated at birth by Dr. Hibbert. Another neat detail can be found on the inside of the tongues, with Bart found on the left shoe and Hugo on the right. This lines up with the plot of the episode, as Bart has the scar on his right side and the Bart shoe also has the scar on the right. As an added bonus, the shoe comes in special packaging with a heap of fish head stickers inside.
