NYC-based designer Phillip Leyesa, better known online as @philllllthy, has teamed up with adidas to release his own take on the NMD S1.
Philllllthy’s works are inspired by Japanese mending practices and feature techniques such as distressing, hand-sewing, cut & sewn pieces, and patchwork. For his adidas NMD S1 collab, Philllllthy adorns the knit upper in a tri-colored weave pattern made up of black, off-white, and light blue. The quarter side panels, ankle collar, and lace area come dressed in more light blue hues, as does the translucent midsole. The colors are inspired by a custom indigo-dyed version of the NMD S1 made by Philllllthy in 2021. Rounding out the design is Philllllthy’s P logo on the midsole and a gum outsole with Trefoil-shaped traction.
