Original Story (04/13/22): When Nike introduced the Dunk High in 1985, college basketball teams across the nation each received pairs in their own colorway: Kentucky, Michigan, UNLV, Syracuse, St. John’s, Villanova, and Iowa. These colorways became known as the “Be True To Your School” pack, and also included one outlier, Georgetown’s Terminator High.
Fresh off winning the national championship in 1984, the Georgetown Hoyas wanted their own shoe. Likely thanks to coach John Thompson being a Nike consultant at the time, this came to fruition, and the Nike Terminator was born. The team received pairs with “HOYAS” written across the heels, while the version that released to the public had “NIKE” in large font.
Nike has brought most of the BTTYS Dunk High colorways back in the past couple years (UNLV High where you at?) and is now gearing up to bring back the “Georgetown” Terminator High. The 2022 retro comes in Hoyas’ signature grey and navy color scheme, and includes “NIKE” branding on the heels.
The Nike Terminator High “Georgetown” is expected to release in late 2022 on Nike.com and at select retailers. Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
